Technically, if you live in a cold region, or one that is cold in winter, it would be relatively inexpensive. Garden edger, you can install the edge before the cold snap and then flood with water when the temperature falls to the ice water running in the area with a garden hose and would hope that the water from freezing (if the area not too large).
